We all know that golf clubs cost a lot of money. If you are a beginner golfer and want to save some money on clubs, why not purchase second hand clubs instead. Not only would you be able to save money but will give you a better idea of what type of club you prefer once you finally are able to afford brand new ones. Here are some tips on how to purchase used golf clubs.

Examine the clubs that are on offer. Look for signs of wear and tear. Normally you'd find a few scratches here and there and maybe some minor dents but not something that can warp the shaft of the club altogether. You know that the owner is quite careful with his clubs if he has installed golf club identification labels on the shaft so as to distinguish his from the rest. If you are a beginner you may want to stick to moderately stiff shafts so as to gain better control and a better so called sweet spot. This only means that you do not have to exert a lot effort bending over just so you can get a decent enough swing. For intermediate golfers they are better off with a flexible shaft that has smaller heads so as to allow the opportunity of feeling the swing and thereby more control to finesse and tune their game more efficiently.

Check if all the clubs on the set are of the same model, stiffness and make and make sure that you have a complete set of fourteen clubs. Golf rules state that you need to have at least three woods, irons labeled two through nine, a sand wedge, putter and a pitching wedge. Make sure to examine the grips properly. If it is worn then you might have to invest in a replacement. Consider this when negotiating for the price. Prior to purchasing the clubs make sure to demo it first. If the owner does not allow it then there might be something there that he does not want you to know so better avoid than be sorry later on. Try to stick to the major brands as much as possible such as Ping, Callaway and Taylor Made to ensure you get the best quality. Make sure to replace the golf club name tags with your own so that it wont be mistaken to be someone else's.
